Every year we make a ton of New Year resolutions -. we’re going to work harder so we get that big promotion, or work less so we can spend more time with the fam; we’re going to start exercising so we can finally lose those 3 lbs that have been bothering us for the past decade, or we’re going to accept our body as it is and stop worrying about what other people think.
And those are all wonderful goals.
But the ugly truth is that most of us don’t stick with them. If you’re anything like me, then you’ve probably already broken at least half of your resolutions before the clock gets to noon on New Years Day. 😅😂
So this year, the POP fam is sharing the things that they would not change for the New Year.
And because we’re not changing certain things in 2023, I’m going to continue to randomly rename my amazing co-workers according to whatever whim strikes my fancy just because I can. 😁😎
[Sorry, fellas. This round we’re all female singing sensations. 🤪😂]
{& FYI for those who may be wondering, the 10 names I used also appear in the random order in which I picked them out of a bowl with 15. 🤣}

SPENDING TIME WITH MY KIDS
My kids changed my life when they showed up, and I’ll be forever thankful for that. But they grow up so fast that sometimes it makes your head spin. So I wouldn’t trade the time I have with my daughters for anything.
~ LIZZO

DANCE CLASSES
I have two left feet and about as much rhythm as the pendulum on a grandfather clock, but I started taking dance classes in 2022 and I realized it’s an amazing form of exercise and a great way to work off the stress, so I’m sticking with it.
~ MILEY

LEARNING NEW THINGS
I know it makes me a geek, but I’ve always enjoyed studying. I like learning about different things, from psychology to hair care to how Pringles are made, and I plan to continue until I’m too senile to remember my own name.
~ ARIANA

BEING AN [AMATEUR] HORTICULTURIST
I might have an entire graveyard of deceased Ficuses, but I’m not going to give up my dream of having beautiful house plants. Although I might try talking a little nicer to them this year, instead of “Grow, or die!”, since they always seem to choose the latter.
~ MARIAH

CHANGING UP MY HAIR COLOR
It might sound silly to some people, but changing up my hair color gives me a new lease on life on each time I do it. I feel reinvigorated, like I’ve shed all the bad stuff from the previous months, and I’m ready to take on the world again.
~ BRITNEY

SPOILING MY WIFE
I grew up with a father who was verbally and emotionally abusive to my mother, and I always promised myself that would never be me. So, I take any opportunity I get to show my wife how much I love and appreciate her.
~ TAYLOR

OBSESSING OVER MY CAR
Tinkering with my car is actually my form of relaxation. It gives me some alone time to decompress from everything else that’s going on, and allows me to reset so I can return to the grind feeling refreshed.
~ CHRISTINA

DATE NIGHTS WITH HUBBY
My husband and I love our kids dearly. But every now and then we need some adult time, away from the shrieking and the hair-pulling and the fart noises. So we’re definitely going to continue date night once a month.
~ BEYONCE

COOKING WITH FLAVOR
The husband’s resolution for 2023 is to start eating clean, and I’m all for it. But I cannot and will not eat raw carrots and boiled meat. I’m a Trini, and my food needs to have flavor. Who wants to eat soggy cardboard?
~ P!NK

MY CHRISTMAS TREE
My Christmas tree has been up since 2019. When Monsieur Covide came around, I decided to leave it up to cheer me up, and by now I simply decorate it with different ornaments to suit each season throughout the year.
~ JENNIFER

Is there something that you wouldn’t change for all the tea in China? Drop it in the comments.
And on behalf of the entire POP family, I would like to wish you guys all the best for the coming year. 💞
Until next time…
