Christmas is one of our favorite seasons here at POP, and the family is sharing the things that they absolutely cannot live without.
And because there is no rhyme or reason to my alias assignments, this round they’re all named after Santa’s reindeer. 😅😂

GINGER BEER & SORREL
And not the store-bought stuff. The real deal, where you have to scrape the ginger and cut out the seeds from the sorrel, and then boil them. I’m not sure what happens after that because the wife has usually chased me out of the kitchen by then.

A CHIRSTMAS TREE
I used to have a beautiful neutral tree every year like the ones you see in movies, with tons of white lights and gold n silver decorations. After having kids, my tree now looks like a rainbow on steroids. But it wouldn’t be Christmas without it, even with all the mismatched ornaments.

CHRISTMAS DINNER WITH THE FAMILY
Every year, the entire family (all 2 million of us) gathers at my grandmother’s house for dinner on Christmas Day. The ironic thing is, her dining table only seats six, so we have dinner in the living room and most of us end up sitting on the floor. But it’s still the part of the holiday we all look forward to the most.

PRESENTS FROM ‘SANTA’
I don’t care what I have to go without for the season, as long as I can see the excitement on my 4- and 2-year-olds’ faces on Christmas morning when they look under the tree and see that Santey Claus brought them gifts.

A HAM IN THE OVEN
It doesn’t matter how many hams we bake during the year. Christmas Eve just doesn’t feel the same if there isn’t a ham in the oven when the sun goes down.

THE SMELL OF PAINT
I grew up with parents who apparently believed that Christmas wouldn’t come unless they repainted the entire house, and now it just doesn’t feel like Christmas without the smell of paint. So every year, my husband paints one room just to appease my weirdness.

FAMILY AND FRIENDS
Every year we plan a massive potluck dinner on Christmas Eve with family and friends, and every year half the guests bring alcohol so it turns into a full-blown Christmas party.

FRUIT CAKE
My wife could decorate every inch of the house, and it wouldn’t feel like Christmas without my mother-in-law’s Fruit Cake – one slice and you’re tipsy until the new year!

What’s your favorite part of the season? We’d love to hear from you in the comments.
And because this is our last post of 2022, on behalf of the entire POP family, I would like to wish you guys all the best for the season. 💞
Until next time…
